Wolf Theiss advises DRI on the refinancing of a EUR 50.6 million senior facility for a 60 MW wind energy project in Romania

Bucharest, 10 September 2026 – Wolf Theiss has advised DTEK Renewables International B.V. (DRI), a leading investor and operator in the renewable energy sector across Romania and the EU, on the refinancing of a EUR 50.6 million senior construction bridge facility for a 60 MW wind farm located in Ruginoasa, Iaşi County, Romania. Kommunalkredit Austria AG acted as arranger and sole lender under the facility granted to Moldova Eolian S.R.L. The transaction successfully closed on 28 August 2026.

DRI is a subsidiary of DTEK Group, Ukraine’s largest private investor and a leading energy company. The business is focused on accelerating the energy transition across Central, Eastern and Southern Europe through the development of renewable energy and battery storage projects that support countries in achieving their net-zero objectives. DRI has built a portfolio of onshore wind, solar and battery storage assets across Romania, Italy, Poland and Croatia. In Romania, the company currently operates four renewable energy projects, comprising three solar parks and one wind farm, the first wind project to be constructed in the country in more than a decade.

A multi-disciplinary team including Banking & Finance and Energy specialised lawyers advised DRI on all Romanian and English law aspects of the refinancing. The mandate included the negotiation and execution of the senior facility agreement and related finance documentation, security arrangements and local law implementation matters. The team, consisting of Partner Claudia Chiper, Partner Nicholas Coddington, Senior Associate Andreea Tudorache, Senior Associate Iuliana Stoicescu, Senior Associate Alexandru Asaftei, Counsel Adina Aurel and Senior Associate Anna Morogai, worked together to deliver integrated advice covering both Romanian and English law aspects of the transaction.

“We would like to thank the Wolf Theiss team for their practical legal support throughout the refinancing process. Their strategic guidance and commitment contributed significantly to its successful completion.”

– Murat Cinar, CEO of DRI

“Wolf Theiss had the pleasure to once again work alongside DRI on the refinancing of the Ruginoasa wind project, a deal that underscores the role private investment plays in advancing clean energy infrastructure across Romania and the wider CEE region. Building on our 2023 engagement, this mandate reflects our continued commitment to empowering investors who drive the energy transition and sustainable economic growth by bringing transformative energy projects to fruition.”
