Sofia, 24 August 2022 – Amber Infrastructure Limited, investment advisor to the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, relied on the legal advice of Wolf Theiss regarding the acquisition of a significant share of BMF Port Burgas EAD, the concessionaire of Port Burgas in Bulgaria.

On 29 July 2022, following the completion of all regulatory and merger control requirements, the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund successfully closed its investment in BMF Port Burgas EAD, the concessionaire of the largest port in Bulgaria – Port Burgas. Wolf Theiss Sofia acted as lead counsel on the purchaser’s side and was closely involved throughout the entire process.

We are very proud to have played a role in such a notable transaction in the Three Seas region, and particularly on the Black Sea.

Richard Clegg, partner and lead lawyer, Wolf Theiss Sofia

This significant acquistion and first port investment by the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund aims to support access to trade and economic growth in the region. Port Burgas is strategically located in Bulgaria, as it is the closest European Union port to the Bosphorus Strait, located on the Black Sea coast. It therefore plays an important role connecting the region with the Middle East and Asia.

In addition to Richard Clegg, the Wolf Theiss team involved in this complex project consisted of a large group of industry, regulatory, corporate, commercial, financial, compliance, and real estate lawyers.

These included Anna Rizova (Partner, Projects), Radosveta Kojuharova (Partner, Real Estate), Katerina Kraeva (Partner, Banking & Finance), Radena Tsvetanova (Consultant, Corporate/M&A), Hristina Dzhevlekova (Counsel, Competition Antitrust), Oleg Temnikov (Counsel, Disputes), Katerina Novakova (Counsel, Projects), Irina Dekova (Consultant, Banking & Finance), Yanitsa Radeva (Senior Associate, Tax), Zhulieta Markova (Senior Associate, Competition Antitrust), Staniella Todorova (Associate, Corporate), Bisera Petsovska (Associate, Employment), Boryana Filimonova (Associate, Corporate), Kalina Pangeva (Associate, Employment) and Miroslav Yonov (Legal Trainee).
