Wolf Theiss advises Uniper on the construction of new photovoltaic projects in Hungary
Budapest, 6 March 2025 – Wolf Theiss has advised Uniper, one of Europe’s largest energy companies, on the implementation of photovoltaic (PV) projects in Hungary set to jointly deliver 151 MWp of renewable energy.
Uniper is committed to expanding its renewable energy portfolio across Europe, specifically in Hungary, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Sweden and Poland. As a result, the company is developing several new PV projects in Hungary, including those in Tét and Dunaföldvár. These new projects will not only contribute to fulfilling Hungary’s sustainability objectives, but also help to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy across the region. Once operational, the PV plants in the municipalities of Tét and Dunaföldvár will produce enough renewable energy to supply up to 92,000 households. Construction of these projects is scheduled to begin later in 2025, with the aim of having them connected to Hungary’s power grid by 2026 and 2027.
Wolf Theiss has been a legal advisor to Uniper, providing comprehensive support in the implementation of its Hungarian PV projects. This includes assisting with the tendering, drafting, negotiation and conclusion of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for power plants, producer lines and substations as well as other construction-related matters.
The core Wolf Theiss team advising on the projects included László Kenyeres (Partner, Energy) and Ádám Lukonits (Senior Associate, Energy).
