Wolf Theiss advises on the sale of 100% of the shares of PHOTEON Technologies to GlobalFoundries
Vienna, 18 August 2026 – Wolf Theiss advised on the sale of 100% of the shares of PHOTEON Technologies GmbH, an innovative Austrian fabless semiconductor company, to GlobalFoundries, a leading global semiconductor manufacturer.
PHOTEON Technologies, headquartered in Dornbirn, Austria, is an innovative fabless semiconductor company specialising in power, control and sensor products. The company develops semiconductor solutions for customers across a range of industries, including automotive, industrial, information and communication, medical and consumer applications. Its expertise spans analogue, digital and mixed-signal technologies, as well as custom integrated circuit design and product development.
Headquartered in Malta, New York, GlobalFoundries is a leading manufacturer of essential semiconductors, providing power-efficient and high-performance semiconductor solutions for customers across a range of industries, including automotive, aerospace and defence, data centres, smart mobile devices and the Internet of Things.
The transaction represents an important milestone PHOTEON Technologie’s development and highlights the increasing international significance of Austria’s semiconductor industry.
Wolf Theiss advised PHOTEON Technologies on all legal aspects of the transaction, providing comprehensive support from deal structuring and negotiation of the transaction documentation through to successful completion.
