New partner at Wolf Theiss: Stefan Riegler to head arbitration practice in Vienna

Vienna, November 16, 2017 – Stefan Riegler is moving to Austria’s largest law firm. Riegler will lead the arbitration group of Wolf Theiss in Vienna and further expand its multijurisdictional arbitral practice.

Stefan Riegler specializes in representing companies involved in commercial legal disputes before arbitral tribunals and can look back at more than a decade of experience in this area. Mr. Riegler worked for Wolf Theiss as an Associate in the years 2003-2005 before subsequently helping to build up the arbitration practice of Baker McKenzie, most recently as Partner. The focus of his arbitration practice includes post-M&A, banking, competition, insolvency and energy. Riegler studied in Vienna and London, and is recognized as a leading arbitration expert in Austria.

“Strengthening our team with Stefan Riegler is a particularly strong signal, both for our dispute resolutions practice as well as for our entire operations in Vienna. We are indeed extremely delighted”, states Erik Steger, Managing Partner of Wolf-Theiss.

“We have gained a strong leader in Stefan Riegler for our arbitral practice in Vienna. Our experienced arbitration experts Valentina Wong and Ceyda Akbal-Schwimann are very pleased with this internationally recognized addition, underlining our intensive expansion on both a local and regional level”, says Clemens Trauttenberg, Partner and Head of the Disputes Practice Group.

“Being in a position to further shape the arbitral practice on both a national and international level at Austria’s largest law firm, which also plays a central role in the CEE region, represents a great new challenge”, Stefan Riegler explains.

The Wolf Theiss arbitration team consists, amongst others, of Zoltan Faludi (Budapest), Gabor Bardosi (Budapest), Thomas Anderl (Vienna), Peter Daszkowski (Warsaw), Marcin Aslanowicz (Warsaw), Ligia Popescu (Bucharest), Dalibor Valincic (Zagreb), Vidak Kovacecic (Belgrade) and Taras Dumych (Kiev).
