Regulatory spotlight: EU Credit Servicer Directive – National hurdles or hidden opportunities?
30 September 2025
We are pleased to invite you to a cross-border webinar exploring the implementation of the EU Credit Servicers Directive (Directive (EU) 2021/2167) in five key jurisdictions: Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania and Italy. Legal and regulatory experts from Wolf Theiss and White & Case will share insights from their respective countries and address questions from participants.
The Directive seeks to harmonise the regulatory framework for credit servicers and purchasers across the EU, with the aim of fostering a more efficient secondary market for non-performing loans (NPLs). However, national implementation has revealed notable differences in approach, scope and supervisory practice.
This session will provide a comparative overview of how the Directive has been transposed in each jurisdiction, with a focus on licensing requirements, regulatory hurdles and the practical implications for market participants. The discussion will also consider whether divergent national regimes may present strategic opportunities for cross-border servicing models.
Speakers:
- Dennis Heuer and Woldemar Haering, White & Case (Germany)
- Christine Siegl, Wolf Theiss (Austria)
- Marcin Pietkiewicz, Wolf Theiss (Poland)
