Hungary’s relaunched Golden Visa programme: Offering a path to EU residence
Wolf Theiss is pleased to be among the first law firms in Hungary to have successfully advised clients on obtaining a Hungarian residence permit through the country’s newly relaunched Golden Visa programme.
Hungary officially relaunched its Golden Visa (i.e. residence permit for guest investors – in Hungarian: vendégbefektető) programme on 1 July 2024, pursuant to its newly adopted Immigration Act. This initiative offers foreign investors (and their family members) a straightforward and reliable route to acquire a Hungarian residence permit valid for ten years, which may be extended once for an additional ten-year period. The current investment options include: i) the acquisition of real estate fund units registered with the Hungarian National Bank in the amount of EUR 250,000 or ii) a non-refundable donation to a Trust in the amount of EUR 1,000,000.
At Wolf Theiss, our multidisciplinary team of legal, immigration and investment experts provide end-to-end support – from structuring your investment to securing your residence permit – with direct access to trusted real estate fund distributors to ensure a streamlined and secure investment process. With growing interest from high-net-worth individuals and family offices seeking EU residence solutions, the Hungarian Golden Visa programme presents a compelling opportunity.
