A look ahead
The “Future of…” series is a forward-looking online event series that explores important trends and current developments in business, law and technology.
Since man first travelled to the moon half a century ago, the technology behind mobility has taken many giant leaps forward. Has it advanced enough to allow us to explore Mars effectively? Back on Earth, the trend goes towards more autonomous vehicles? How safe is autonomous driving and who is responsible? And what about drones? Do the benefits for future technologies outweigh the current risks? New business models effected by legislation such as the Austrian Single Category Law, as well as environmental concerns have become infused throughout many other key topics in this area such as attempts to reduce road traffic, e-vehicles and the emergence of services such as Mobility-as-a-Service.

"The Single Category Law in Austria showcases how a well-meant regulation can lead to negative consequences - especially for consumers. Besides increased prices and lower quality of service, it will also be more difficult to meet sustainability goals due to increased use of personal cars."a Download CV (pdf)

These quickly moving developments also raise new legal issues and untouched questions. But are courts and our current legal system up to the new challenges?"a Download CV (pdf)
