Our Banking & Finance team in Bucharest assisted the syndicate of banks in what is considered the largest deal of 2020 to date on the Romanian real estate market. The team, coordinated by partner Claudia Chiper, as head of the Wolf Theiss Banking & Finance practice in Romania, advised the banks in all stages of the deal, including transaction structuring, due diligence, drafting of all financing documentation and successful negotiation and closing of the financing.
As a result of this transaction, AFI Europe group, the leading real estate development and investment group operating in Central and Eastern Europe (with a focus on the development of large-scale commercial and residential projects) completed the takeover of four NEPI Rockcastle office projects.
“We are all very pleased to have had the opportunity to support the lenders in completing this landmark financing transaction, which represents one of the largest real estate transactions of the year thus far on the Romanian market. Our dedicated team of lawyers had the pleasure of working in close collaboration with professional and commercially oriented teams at each bank. Their cooperation was instrumental to the success of this deal”, stated Claudia Chiper, Wolf Theiss Partner and Coordinator of the Banking & Finance team in Romania.
The Wolf Theiss Bucharest team of lawyers who contributed to this landmark and complex transaction was led by Partner Claudia Chiper and included Iuliana Stoicescu, Flaviu Nanu, Alexandru Asaftei, Cătălin Sabău and Andrei Sălăgeanu.
