Wolf Theiss acts for Sompo International in M&A warranty insurance transaction

Located in one of the densely populated neighbourhoods of Kyiv, Ukraine, and having a total area of over 16,000 m2, Aladdin was purchased by the Ukrainian Commercial Property Investment Holding, which is a part of Dragon Capital, from Meyer Bergman.

The Wolf Theiss Kyiv office team included Partner Taras Dumych and a Senior Associate Oksana Volynets as well as the Vienna based Partner Christian Mikosch.

The transaction is of great significance for Ukraine as it is first time ever that warranty insurance became available for an M&A, and particularly real estate M&A transaction in Ukraine.

Taras Dumych commented in this regard: “We were truly delighted and thrilled to work together with the team of Sompo International to make things happen in this transaction. It is extremely important both for foreign investors in Ukraine and Ukrainian businesses that the contractual warranty insurance tools are available. Both our client and us are excited to have become pioneers in introducing this opportunity in Ukraine.”
