The newsletter covers important developments in 13 jurisdictions in the CEE/SEE region, namely:
Albania, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Ukraine.
Time is money and when it comes to project developments, time is one of the major factors. Environmental impact assessments are typically seen as – if not show-stoppers – at least time-consuming proceedings. The Austrian government has therefore presented a (highly debated) draft law which shall foster Austria as industry and business location. Also Slovenia and the City of Vienna are amending their Building Acts to allow simpler and swifter proceedings.
Sunday trading is another highly debated issue. Whereas more and more countries try to liberalise the opening of brick and mortar (in particular due to online-competition), Poland enacted a ban on Sunday trade.
