POLAND: BANKING REGULATORY UPDATE

Poland – Amid the shock waves sent by the COVID19 pandemic through the global and Polish economies, liquidity of borrowers and stability of the country's banking sector are among the top priorities for lawmakers and regulators. While no mandatory payment moratorium has been introduced in Poland, Polish lenders have been contributing on their own initiative by offering payment holidays and extending the maturities of existing revolvers. Simultaneously, legislative actions are being undertaken and regulatory guidelines published allowing banks to adjust their credit appraisal processes to the current situation, postpone repayments without necessity of raising their capitals, and providing certain other regulatory reliefs releasing capacity of the supervised entities.
