Covid-19: Slovenia passes new, comprehensive law on COVID-19-related reimbursements to employers

On Sunday, 29 March 2020, the first set of intervention measures ("ZIUPPP") entered into force. A new "omnibus act" was adopted on Thursday, 2 April 2020, which revises and partially amends the first set of intervention measures.

The new act (ZIUZEOP) could enter into force as soon as on Saturday, 11 April 2020. Certain provisions apply retroactively as of 13 March 2020. In order to be able to fully use offered governmental support, employers (including those that already instructed employees to wait for work at home) are advised to align their businesses with the revised conditions, and file applications within eight days following the entry of the law into force (i. e. by Sunday, 20 April 2020).
