Wolf Theiss strengthens its regional presence and legal expertise by promoting five senior lawyers to Counsel positions

Bucharest / Prague / Vienna, 9. May 2023 – CEE / SEE law firm Wolf Theiss announced the internal promotions of five senior lawyers to Counsel. On May 1st, 2023, Andreea Stan, George Ghitu (Bucharest), Tomáš Kren (Prague), Stephan Kugler and Nevena Skočić (Vienna) were promoted to Counsel positions.

George Ghitu is a key member of the Corporate/ M&A team in Bucharest. He specialises in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and insurance and restructuring matters related to M&A deals. Over the years, he has been involved in a significant number of domestic and international M&A transactions, assisting clients in various business acquisitions and share deals, merger projects and business transfers. George is also frequently involved in complex corporate matters such as: squeeze-outs, the protection of minority shareholders, corporate liability matters, and advising clients on high profile corporate governance issues. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, George was a part of the Corporate/M&A department of a top tier Romanian law firm. In addition to his law degree, George also holds a degree from the Faculty of Economic Management of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and holds a master’s degree in Health Services Management.

Andreea Stan is a member of Wolf Theiss’ Corporate / M&A and Employment team at the Bucharest office. She has 10 years of experience and specialises in labour law. Given her background as a litigator and M&A practitioner, Andreea handles: pre-contentious employment conflicts and disputes, challenging collective and individual dismissals (as project manager and lead expert of employment law throughout every stage of the process), and all phases of the M&A process (in employment). She also coordinates complex restructuring and reorganization projects, employee transfer projects (with a cross-border focus, re-allocation of duties and advice on integration at the transferee entity level). She has supported clients with both day-to-day, as well as sensitive and sophisticated employment/compliance advice: whistleblowing cases, sensitive disciplinary cases, manager dismissals or exits, and so on. Andreea is part of the WT Diversity team, and a member of AIJA and EELA. In March 2023, she was selected to participate in the second annual Tomorrow’s Leaders thought-leadership survey by the Internal Employment Lawyer publication. Andreea holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Bucharest (2011).

Tomáš Kren, from Wolf Theiss’ Prague office, focuses his practice on real estate transactions across real estate industries by handling all kinds of work related to: acquisitions, joint ventures, leasing, various forms of financing and capital markets issues primarily in connection to fundraising, investment firm compliance matters and real estate fund structures. Throughout his 13 years of professional experience, Tomáš has regularly acted for major investment companies, funds, developers, banks and other financial institutions on numerous real estate-related domestic or cross-border deals. Tomáš gained his experience working for leading international and Czech law firms in Prague and prior to joining Wolf Theiss held the role of Head of Legal at a Czech real estate investment company. At this company, aside from his overall responsibility for the legal and regulatory agenda, Tomáš was also a member of the holdings’ senior management, helping it become one of the biggest Czech office premises holders. Tomáš graduated from Masaryk University in Brno and became a Czech law qualified attorney in 2015.

Stephan Kugler is a member of Wolf Theiss’ Disputes team in Vienna, where he specializes in the defence of class actions, mass claims, as well as cartel follow-on damages claims. Furthermore, he focuses on internal investigations and crisis management. He also has niche expertise in dispute resolution focusing on legal tech products. Before joining Wolf Theiss, Stephan spent many years working in the offices of major global law firms in Vienna, Frankfurt and Amsterdam as a member of the Dispute Resolution, Global Investigations, and Global Technology & Innovation teams. In addition to his Austrian law degree, Stephan holds an LLM degree in International Dispute Settlement and Arbitration from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Stephan is a member of the Austrian Bar Association.

Nevena Skočić is a member of the Banking & Finance team at both Wolf Theiss Vienna and Wolf Theiss Belgrade. Nevena is a qualified Serbian attorney who specialises in the fields of banking & finance, capital markets and tax, and has over 9 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, Nevena worked at a prominent international professional services firm as a business tax advisory assistant with respect to capital markets and banking & finance, focusing on the tax treatment of money market and financial derivatives transactions in Serbia, as well as other countries in the region. She is a graduate of the University of Belgrade School of Law and also holds an LLM degree from ISDE, Madrid. Nevena is also an active member of the Capital Markets team in Vienna, where she has a special focus on debt capital markets in the CEE and EE regions.
