Austria has implemented a range of laws and regulations to address and mitigate the adverse consequences of Covid-19 (the "Covid-19 Law").
The Covid-19 Law:
- forms a legislative base for measures to be implemented against the further spread of Covid-19, measures in principle which were already announced on 13 March;
- includes measures for the protection of employment relationships by way of a reduced working hour scheme and special vacation for parents with school children, as well as the partial financing of such measures by governmental funds (as opposed to the company as the employer); as well as
- other financial support for companies affected by the current crisis.
The laws and regulations took effect on and apply from 16 March 2020.
