Wolf Theiss Expands Dispute Resolution Practice By Launching White Collar Crime Practice In Warsaw

Warsaw, 8 January 2020 – Wolf Theiss has hired Arkadiusz Matusiak to start its new White Collar Crime practice. This move, along with last year’s successes in Poland, confirm Wolf Theiss’ growth in the country and position the firm for further development in the CEE region.

“I am honored and very pleased to join Wolf Theiss, a leading law firm in Central and Eastern Europe. I am convinced that, in cooperation with my colleagues in Vienna and other Wolf Theiss offices, we will create the strongest White Collar Crime team not only in Poland but throughout the entire CEE region," said Arkadiusz Matusiak, new Counsel at the Wolf Theiss Warsaw office.

Arkadiusz will join the Dispute Resolution practice and head the White Collar Crime (WCC) team. The new position is part of the firm’s dynamic expansion in central Europe’s largest legal-services market, and follows the launch of a Restructuring practice in June 2019 and the addition of two new attorneys at the level of Counsel (in Energy and Corporate and M&A) in December 2019.

Arkadiusz is a reconized lawyer in his field and a former prosecutor. With over 20 years of professional experience, he specializes in commercial criminal law, including corporate investigations, compliance, asset recovery and corporate criminal liability. Before joining Wolf Theiss, he spent seven years building the White Collar Crime and Compliance, Risk and Sensitive Investigations practice at another international law firm.

He advises international corporations operating in Poland in setting up anti-corruption and compliance programmes. He represents corporations in criminal proceedings concerning unfair practices, bribery, trade secrets theft, VAT carousels and other tax crimes. Arkadiusz is ranked as one of the leading lawyers in the field of WCC by Chambers Europe and The Legal 500. He has participated as an expert in the Council of Europe project regarding the reorganization of the structure of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine.

“I am very pleased to announce Arkadiusz as our team member. We start the new year by consistently implementing our strategy, and that’s not the end. In February we will welcome aboard one new lawyer”, said Tomasz Stasiak, Co-Managing Partner at Wolf Theiss in Warsaw. The Warsaw office of Wolf Theiss is among the most rapidly growing law firms in Poland in terms of yearly revenue, according to a leading Polish business daily newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, published in November 2019.
