The Scheherazade Foundation was founded in June 2007. Its mission is to give aid to children regardless of their race, religion or gender through building enduring partnerships with the government, the corporate sector and the civil society. Scheherazade endeavors to improve healthcare, promote life-saving advancements and sponsor the protection of children.

In 2008, the foundation launched the campaign “2% for Marie Curie.” Approximately EUR 2.2 million were raised through sponsorships and were used to renovate the Marie Curie Hospital. On 9 June 2009 the hospital officially reopened its newly-renovated Pediatric Orthopedic Section with the support of the Scheherazade Foundation funds and a donation of EUR 150,000 from Wolf Theiss. The renovation of the Marie Curie Hospital is the largest project of this kind in Romania carried out by an NGO.

“The economic success of Wolf Theiss has been based in large part on its expansion from Vienna to all of the CEE/SEE countries,” said Wolf Theiss partner Christian Hoenig. “A successful entrepreneur always gives something back to both the people and the society that make that success possible. This is why our partners have chosen to provide substantial donations to three charities focused on children in Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.” The firm's donation was made in connection with its 50th anniversary celebration.
