Kali Tuna is the biggest cultivator of bluefin tuna in the Adriatic Sea. Now fishery trading house J-Trading Inc. and investment firm Integral corp. have bought it for ¥4 billion. The Tokyo-based trading house intends to procure the fish for sushi and to sell in Europe and the United States. There are restrictions on bluefin catches in the Pacific because their numbers are being threatened by overfishing. But in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, their numbers are recovering. This prompted the relaxation of catch restrictions earlier in the year – and the interest of J-Trading in Kali Tuna. The Zagreb office of international law firm WOLF THEISS supported on buy-side regarding due diligence and structuring of the share purchase, including complex structures against timing considerations associated with tuna harvest periods as well as general corporate and employment advice. The team was led by partner Luka Tadić-Čolić, senior associates Saša Jovičić and Silvije Cvjetko, consultant Dora Gaži-Kovačević and associate Katarina Kezić.
