New Consumer Protection Law in Austria enters into force on June 13, 2014

Just in time for the planned entry into force on June 13 2014, the Austrian Parliament has implemented the new European Union Directive on Consumer Rights (Directive 2011/83/EU) by way of the Austrian Act on the Implementation of the Directive on Consumer Rights (Verbraucher-Richtlinie-Umsetzungsgesetz - VRUG), that provides for amendments to the Austrian Civil Code (Allgemeines Gesetzbuch - ABGB), the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (Konsumentenschutzgesetz - KSchG) and for the implementation of the Austrian Act on Off-Premises and Distance Contracts (Fern- und Auswärtsge-schäfte-Gesetz - FAGG). These amendments will have an impact on virtually all companies, not only those active in the online business.
