WOLF THEISS WINS AN AWARD FOR CAPITAL MARKETS TRANSACTION AT TOP LAWYERS AWARD GALA

Bucharest, 16 June 2010 – WOLF THEISS is pleased to announce that it has won an award at the third edition of the Top Lawyers Award Gala organized by Finmedia, acknowledging the Firm’s role in advising on one of the most significant Capital Markets transactions in the region in 2009. The awards ceremony was held on June 14 at the JW Marriot Grand Hotel in Bucharest, with the participation of leading international and local law firms and individuals from the legal market in Romania. The awards were conceived by Finmedia, a leading events and conference organiser and publisher, and were meant to "represent an authentic mirror of the business law services market in Romania and its most important players.” The prizes were awarded for performance in 2009 and the most important transactions in the main fields of business law. In the “Capital Markets” category, Wolf Theiss received the award for advising Erste Group Bank AG on its successful combined offering, which realized gross proceeds of EUR 1.74 billion for the bank. The cross-border transaction consisted of a rights offering to existing shareholders, a public offering in Austria, the Czech Republic and Romania and a private placement to institutional investors in the United States and other countries. The new shares began trading on the Vienna, Prague and Bucharest stock exchanges on 19 November 2009. Bryan W. Jardine, managing partner of the Wolf Theiss Bucharest office, accepted the award on behalf of the Wolf Theiss team that advised on this transaction, specifically acknowledging the efforts of Richard Wolf and Claus Schneider as team leaders, as well as Mihaela Maxim and Claudia Arnautu for their work on the Romanian aspects of this transaction. back > |
