SOFIA
|
City Information The first thing you need to know before any trip to Bulgaria is that the locals shake their heads to say ‘yes’ and nod their heads to say ‘no’. This can be a great source of confusion (especially in legal negotiations) so it’s best to just say the word. Once you’ve overcome that hurdle, Sofia is a breeze. The setting is pretty spectacular, with the foothills of Mount Vilosha just four miles from the centre. (The slopes are good for skiing in winter, so you might want to stay for a long weekend.) Aside from that, there’s a lively mix of bars and restaurants dotted around the city, so you’ll have plenty of options for everything from a quick breakfast to a working lunch or extended evening celebration. |
